~Review for Sun Damage (The Sunshine Series) by Nikki Rae

Sun Damage_ebooklg.jpg Could have been phenomenal...

But... I was a tad disappointed. Sophie goes on tour with her band and brother. She realizes she isn't a typical "new" vampire. With Myles help, she tries to find the best way for her to eat without being sick. I liked how the writer tried to make it seem so dramatic, but it let me down towards the end. Finally, you think there's going to be a HEA and they'll live forever together. Only for Myles to want to become human again. I really expected more than I was given. Still a good story. Check it out for yourself

~Review for Covered in Coal by Silla Webb~

If you're looking for a story that will capture your heart and have you guessing at every page turn, Covered in Coal is the book for you. Silla Webb has outdone herself in this debut novel. She gives it to you upfront that there is a cliffhanger, and that the way she wrote the dialogue is true to how they speak, I was so glad to see that it was laid out upfront. With that said, I was still like WTF at the end, but I totally understand and don't mind.

Carly Jo, when turning to her father for some much needed words of advice at the young age of 17 leads her down a road of feeling like she's only got herself to count on causing her to run away from Kentucky. After Carly Jo returns to her hometown after being gone for 7 yrs, nothing could have prepared her for all the curveballs life plans to throw her way. Carrying a secret of her own, can she overcome a shattered heart and a loss so great that what she stands to gain tests not only her strength but will also have her questioning everything she thought she knew.

Colton Weston, the boy who shattered Carly Jo's heart. He's strong, sexy and such an Alpha that just from reading his words on a page made me want to obey! Will the secrets that he carries himself hinder the chance at regaining Carly Jo's love? Not prepared for the challenge he's faced with when Carly proves to still be as stubborn as ever, he'll have to work overtime to win her over.

Savannah, Carly Jo's sister is great, as was the character of Luke and Heidi Jo. I adore Colton's parents.

Throughout this book, I was intrigued at the design that showed up in breaks of the story, and towards the end of the book that design made perfect sense after reading the following quote.

"When two people are meant for each other, no time is too long, no distance is too far, no one can ever tear them apart. You are my infinity, my always, my forever."

EXCERPT

“Anytime, Leah, we’re family now,

right?” I assure her. You can lean on me

anytime.

            “Yeah…right…family,”

she almost whispers it to herself.

            I sit,

leaning against the wall with my knees propped up, watching her hang up the

clothes I bought Dani today. She sorts them between short sleeve, long sleeve,

and sweaters, and then color-codes them. She neatly places the shoes on the

floor of the closet and then puts the pajamas into the dresser drawer. So

precise and organized it makes me want to throw her down and kiss her

senseless. Let her know it’s okay to be a mess sometimes and see what could

happen when she unwinds a little.

            “Adam, this

was so nice. I really could have handled her clothes, but thank you.” She turns

her head to look over her shoulder and smiles at me. My heart rate increases simply

from the happiness I brought her.

            “I told

you, she’s my niece, too. I could barely find something warm enough for her to

wear today in that suitcase.”

            “I know,

but you went to really nice stores. It must have cost you a small fortune.”

            “Well, I

know women like the expensive stuff.” She turns around and scrunches her

forehead, but quickly smirks.

            “True, but

sometimes you would be amazed what you find in a sale’s bin.” Please, tell me

I’m not what she considers some dollar store deal. She walks over to me and

sits cross-legged across from me, taking in the transformed room. “It looks

like a little girl room, right?” she asks.

            “Definitely,

just put a no boys sign outside, and it’s complete,” I joke, and she joins me.

            “Good, it’s

just when I came in here earlier, and she was putting those pictures up, I

figured she needed a space that was hers. I’m beginning to think she’s never

had her own space.” The love she feels for Dani lights up her eyes, making my

heart open even more for her.

Release Day Launch: Reasonable Doubt, Volume Two by Whitney G.

Synopsis: She lied to me...

She betrayed the one rule that I'm most adamant about: Honesty. Complete and utter fucking honesty .

I really wish she was someone else--someone who didn't have the ability to make me feel, someone I could easily discard like the hundreds of women before her.

She isn't.

I'm drawn to her like I've never been drawn to a woman before--completely captivated by the very sight of her. But unfortunately, with my past slowly re-surfacing for all of the world to see, I'll have to find a way to let her go.

She can never be mine.

Getting to know a character!!

Interview with Corrigan Raimler
(from Tijan's Jaded Series)

1.       Boxer, briefs or commando? He laughs. “Pre all this shit hitting the fan with Sheldon, I would say commando, but now…boxers. I still like to let the guy hang loose.”
2.       Best asset on a female? Another laugh from him as he shakes his head. “Her brain, but after that, I’d say her rack.”
3.       Favorite color? “Green.” He gestures to his eyes.
4.       Song or songs that would best describe you? “Too legit to quit?” He flashes a grin. “I used to be all about music, but lately I’ve stopped following local bands with this media frenzy.”
5.       Pet peeves? “Uh? People who stab me, stalk my best friend, murder our friends? Oh and also anyone who frames my best friend for murder.”
6.       Stranded on an island, who is with you and why them? He groans. “For real? I’d say Sheldon. No matter where we’re at, that girl will survive. She’s got balls.”
7.       Regrets, we all have at least one- what are yours? “I’ll give you one and I’d probably say the time I stood naked in front of a cop car so they’d stop and get out. I was the distraction. When they got out and chased me, my buddy stole the car and picked me up. We went on a joyride. My parents were not happy about that one.”
8.       Best and worst jail experience? “That time.” He laughs. “I had half of the guys thinking I was awesome and the other half wanting to beat the shit out of me.”
9.       Name your poison, as in alcoholic drink ;) “I like beer. I’m in college. I have to, but other than that, I’d say some Wild Turkey will give me some extra hair.” He runs a hand over his head. “Some of this is starting to go too from stress.”
10.    You have tattoo's explain them- Do you plan to get more and if so of what and where? “No thanks.”
11.    Love or Lust? You could only have 1 for the rest of your life. He groans. “Love is scary, but I have to go with that. Lust won’t get you anything long-term.”
12.    Fears? “Of being stabbed again, that’s another ‘no thanks’ answer.”
13.    You find a "magic lamp" name your 3 wishes. “Sheldon is cleared of murder. All the bullshit between the three of us is done with and everyone’s happy.”
14.    What do you think will happen with Sheldon? Bryce? Yourself?  “Who knows? I really don’t. Sheldon’s on lock-down with her emotions right now and she was horrible before even when she wasn’t. I’ll finish college. I know that. I’m sure Bryce will keep playing soccer.”
15.    Is there anything you absolutely would not do? “Sleep with Sheldon’s mom. I would absolutely not do that.” He has a blank expression on his face. “That’s one thing I know.”
